Is Mixx the New Digg?
Diggers vs Mixxers | Houston Web Design & Development - [Stumbles via StumbleUpon]
There has been a lot of talk lately about a new social networking platform that is very similar to Digg. It's called Mixx. In fact, I might go as far to call it a Digg clone like everyone else. But, I hate throw around the term clone because when you think about it every site is just trying to display data so what isn't a clone these days?
Mixx seems to have risen out of the ashes of a burning Digg. Many of the members at Mixx are refugees from Digg bans, or people are just fed up with Digg. Many people say that the biggest difference between Digg and Mixx is the members. While Digg members seem to be full of themselves and quick to jump on your case for using improper grammer or just being a "noob", Mixx members are more laid back. My personal opinion is that this is just because Mixx is small and new, as opposed to the bloated giant that is big.
I created a Mixx Account a few weeks ago, and I have been playing around with it a little. So far I like the general feel of Mixx. It seems that it's a lot easier to customize, it's more personable, and I can quickly read what I want to read about whether it be humor, tech, or news. I'm also a big fan of the pictures section, something that Digg has always lacked.
Only time will tell if Mixx can compete with the big boys of social networking. Right now their content is a little "iffy". I see several things that are in the wrong categories, several duplicate postings, and lots of old posting. However, I believe that Mixx is still in it's "working the bugs out stage". I have high hopes for Mixx to become the social networking website of my dreams.

I don't know if I'm a fan of
I don't know if I'm a fan of Mixx really. What made Digg "all that" was the fact that it was something new and interesting. I don't see how Mixx is really all that different from Digg.
Hey Great Post! I think one
Hey Great Post! I think one of the features from Mixx I really like is you know who voted up/voted down your submissions. As long as Mixx doesn't make its users too anonymous the way Digg does, there will be less flaming and trash talking as the site gets as big as Digg.
